Finding jobs that allow you to work from home is far easier than many people expect. Thought paychecks and benefits may not be as regular and scheduled as a career that takes you outside of the home, work from home opportunities are a great way to get a little extra work done without leaving your home. There are plenty of professional and seemingly non-professional options when it comes to jobs that remain within the home.

One job in particular that is a professional job so to speak is medical billing and collections. Both of these jobs may require individuals to go into a physical job once or twice a week to update their superiors but these jobs are mainly done from the comfort of your own home. This is the option for those that want to work from home but do not want to be self-employed.


For a medical billing or coding job you will likely be required to finish a series of classes to help acquaint you with the programs and terminology that you will be using. This means that you may need a certificate program to ready you for this type of job. Rather than being able to simply walk in and find a job, you will have to have some secondary training to make sure that you understand what you are doing and what is expected of you.


For a collections job you will likely only have to complete the training that is required by the employer. With a coding job you will be filing and coding the insurance claims that a doctor’s office has over the course of a working week or month. This means that you will organize and code procedures so that the office knows how to correctly bill insurance and medicare.


Collections is a bit simpler, for the most part you will simply be calling individuals with outstanding balances on medical bills, credit cards, and various other lines of credit to help set up a payment plan or alert them to the status of their account. This type of job as mentioned before may not require anything more than a course offered by the employer. You will need people skills and customer service skills to adequately work this type of job.
